Our story
VIAA Inc. is a Community Garden and Friendship Group that welcomes blind and vision impaired community members to come and enjoy a cuppa, a chat and a wander through our community garden with their support workers or family.
Our founder, Chris Reed, is vision impaired and has always loved gardening. Chris was not prepared to give it up when she lost her sight and she has been instrumental in designing and establishing the Community Garden. With the help of her husband Terry and a small group of volunteers it has become a reality. Chris's aim has always been to share the garden with other blind and vision impaired community members.
VIAA Inc. now offers a relaxing visit where you can feel free to explore the community garden area where seasonal herbs and vegetables grow, try your hand at some gardening if you like and have a cuppa and a chat.

This is an on-going project to benefit the health and wellbeing of our clients by providing an place of friendship and exploration into new ideas. If you enjoy gardening or even being in the garden why not join us for a visit and begin the journey into new possibilities.
We are situated in Jensen, Townsville with the aim of expanding to other areas in the future.
